Who we are

Joseph Mistretta has over 20 years of gardening experience, starting with his grandfather’s vegetable and flower gardens. From a young age he was sowing tomato, marigold, and zinnia seeds, and helping his grandfather plant and weed his gardens. His passion for plants and wildlife conservation led him to earn a Master of Science degree in Ecology and Conservation from James Cook University.

Between 2017-2020, Joseph worked as an Ecological Services Technician for Parterre Ecological Services where he completed Invasive Plant Management and Native Plant Restoration projects at residential and municipal properties including city parks, town forests, and schools.

After working as an Ecological Services Technician, Joseph worked as an Ecological Project Manager for DeRosa Environmental Consulting Inc. from 2020-2021. While working at beautiful gardens and completing restoration plantings around Greater Boston and Essex County, Joey discovered his true passion: designing and maintaining gardens that are both aesthetically beautiful and ecologically functional.

More recently Joseph has been working as a Fine Gardener, and Field Manager at Andover Landscape (2021-2022) and Walker Creek Gardens (2022-2024) based out of Cape Ann.
